Springtime Guayabitos Vacation
Rincon de Guayabitos
on the Riviera Nayarit is quickly becoming one of the most popular places to visit for a Riviera Nayarit vacation in Mexico.
The springtime in Mexico I feel is one of the best times of the year to enjoy Mexico. The large crowds from Canada and the U.S. have gone home and Guayabitos turns back into a more authentic Mexico pueblo. Its a great time to come and practice your Spanish! The weather is perfect with a balmy high of 86 during the days and a low of 64 in the evenings. The plants and flowers are amazing in
Guayabitos and other pueblos like Lo de Marcos in the Spring, where all of the tress and plants are flowering in a large variety of colors that brings your senses to life!
Guayabitos also has some great beaches for easy swimming and wading out into the water.
May is jam packed with celebrations, so come and join the fun in Guayabitos Mexico!
May Celebrations
May is loaded with several Mexican holidays, starting with the state of Zacatecas going on a two week vacation, and which actually has already started and runs though the beginning of May. Everyone in the state gets two weeks off, and they love to come to celebrate their vacation in Rincon de Guayabitos!
Labor Day, or Primero de Mayo is coming up on May 1st, and is an actual Government holiday in which government offices will be closed and the banks and schools are also closed as well as some businesses. Many folks come down with their families to celebrate so the
restaurants and bars will be open and ready to party! Some Mexicans along with the Labor Unions also take this day to protest the businesses they work for to receive better wages and other issues in the larger cities as well.
Day of the Cross, or Dia de la Santa Cruz, is on May 3rd, and is a religious holiday for the folks that choose to follow religion. This is the day to pay respects to the Holy Cross. People celebrate with lots of singing and an abundance of flowers and decorations, and decorate
with crosses on the sides of the streets and on top of buildings and other places to remember the divinity of the Holy Cross. Churches hold mass and give special thanks for all of their abundance as well as protection for the upcoming year. You can hear the sky rockets go off and the powder bombs go off as well that are used to frighten off evil spirits all hours of the day and night.
Another aspect of the Day of the Cross, also know as Mason Day celebrating the construction workers as these workers place a cross on their unfinished buildings. The work day ends at noon and often the owner of the buildings celebrate with tequila and cold cervecas, as well as having a fiesta of tacos blessing the construction projects and giving honor to the construction workers.
Cinco de Mayo is on May 5th, and serves as the memory of the Mexicans army 1862 victory over
France at the “Battle of Puebla” during the Franco-Mexican War which ended in 1867. The towns across Mexico celebrate with parades, lots of mariachi bands in the streets and festivals.
In the United States this day is highly celebrated by the large populations of Mexicans and all cultures enjoy taking part in the Cinco de Mayo party!
