Guayabitos for a Riviera Nayarit Vacation

Springtime Guayabitos Vacation

Rincon de Guayabitos on the Riviera Nayarit is quickly becoming one of the most popular places to visit for a Riviera Nayarit vacation in Mexico.
The springtime in Mexico I feel is one of the  best times of the year to enjoy Mexico. The large crowds from Canada and the U.S. have gone home and Guayabitos turns back into a more authentic Mexico pueblo. Its a great time to come and practice your Spanish! The weather is perfect with a balmy high of 86 during the days and a low of 64 in the evenings. The plants and flowers are amazing in Guayabitos and other pueblos like Lo de Marcos in the Spring, where all of the tress and plants are flowering in a large variety of colors that brings your senses to life!
Guayabitos also has some great beaches for easy swimming and wading out into the water.
May is jam packed with celebrations, so come and join the fun in Guayabitos Mexico!

May Celebrations

May is loaded with several Mexican holidays, starting with the state of Zacatecas going on a two week vacation, and which actually has already started and runs though the beginning of May. Everyone in the state gets two weeks off, and they love to come to celebrate their vacation in Rincon de Guayabitos!

Labor Day, or Primero de Mayo is coming up on May 1st, and is an actual Government holiday in which government offices will be closed and the banks and schools are also closed as well as some businesses. Many folks come down with their families to celebrate so the restaurants and bars will be open and ready to party! Some Mexicans along with the Labor Unions also take this day to protest the businesses they work for to receive better wages and other issues in the larger cities as well.

Day of the Cross, or Dia de la Santa Cruz,  is on May 3rd, and is a religious holiday for the folks that choose to follow religion. This is the day to pay respects to the Holy Cross. People celebrate with lots of singing and an abundance of flowers and decorations, and decorate with crosses on the sides of the streets and on top of buildings and other places to remember the divinity of the Holy Cross. Churches hold mass and give special thanks for all of their abundance as well as protection for the upcoming year. You can hear the sky rockets go off and the powder bombs go off as well that are used to frighten off evil spirits all hours of the day and night.
Another aspect of the Day of the Cross, also know as Mason Day celebrating the construction workers as these workers place a cross on their unfinished buildings. The work day ends at noon and often the owner of the buildings celebrate with tequila and cold cervecas, as well as having a fiesta of tacos blessing the construction projects and giving honor to the construction workers.

Cinco de Mayo is on May 5th, and serves as the memory of the Mexicans army 1862 victory over France at the “Battle of Puebladuring the Franco-Mexican War which ended in 1867. The towns across Mexico celebrate with parades, lots of mariachi bands in the streets and festivals.
In the United States this day is highly celebrated by the large populations of Mexicans and all cultures enjoy taking part in the Cinco de Mayo party!

Fun in Guayabitos

The main street is lined with Mexican restaurants like Rodeo (great tacos and stuffed baked potatoes, yum), or you may want something a little different like TeriYaki Time located behind the OXXO; bars and clubs and fun shopping stores with everything you can want or imagine. Its really fun to walk up and down the main street shopping.
Sometimes you want to take that special someone to a more romantic setting, and Vista Guayabitos Restaurant has exactly that! Vista Guayabitos has the one of a kind view of Guayabitos and the Jaltemba Bay with an eagles view from the top of the hill that is to the very south end of the playa. It is very easy to find. They create amazing dishes that will be sure to please the palate along with a professional wait staff that makes it a must do on your Guayabitos vacation.

There are also hair salons likeBeauty Spa by Aurora where you can get all of your pampering needs taken care of from your toes to your head…they also do complete body waxing Or you may feel like getting a good work out in the mornings at The Fitness Pad (they have a great personal trainer),  or some great Thai Food at TeriYaki Time Restaurant, who also serves up a great steak!  All three of these great places are behind the OXXO in the strip mall.

A Great Place to Stay

At the end of an evening it is nice to go back to a comfortable and clean space, preferably with a nice pool! Hotel de Don Pepe in Guayabitos has exactly that. Their rooms are fresh and clean, as well as the entire building has been taken care of. Some are available with kitchenettes and all rooms have air conditioning. The large pool and lounging area can make for a relaxing afternoon. The professional staff is bi-lingual and are always available to assist you. They also have different tours available, like bird watching tours, all inclusive Chica Locca Tour with an all inclusive food and drinks on a catamaran and snorkeling/kayaking tour, or perhaps a visit to the Alta Vista Petroglyphs.
Ask at the desk for a discount when you mention AllGuayabitos.com or RivieraNayaritFun.com for the Chica Locca Tours, or you can check out the information area at the Hotel de Don Pepe!

Semana Santa in Guayabitos Mexico

Semana Santa Guayabitos Style

Happy Samena Santa and Happy Easter to all of our advertisers and viewers  from the crew at RivieraNayaritFun.com and all of our town websites AllSayulita.com, AllSanPancho.com, AllLodeMarcos.com, AllGuayabitos.com, AllLaPenita.com and AllChacala.com.
No matter what your religion, Semana Santa and Easter day allow all of us on opportunity to be more caring and heart centered with our friends and families, creating a group vibration that spreads the love around the planet. So Enjoy and embrace the holiday Guayaytos!
Happy celebrating and many blessings!

Celebration!

Semana Santa all starts with a week long celebration on the Riviera Nayarit, with beaches filled with familia and friends, laughing and dancing until the early hours of the morning, with this last weekend raising the roof!
The Mexicans really know how to have a lot of fun, as they love to play, and love to dance to the very loud music! They love everything LOUD! lol….One of the reasons the I adore the Mexican culture, is their sense for love for their family. Everyone from the very oldest to the little babies come to the different beach towns on the Riviera Nayarit to celebrate life. I love to watch them play, and dance to the brass bands on the beach, throw sand at each other and eat and party!  If you like Mexican culture, Easter week, or here in Mexico is known as Semana Santa,  is the time to come immerse yourself in the wonderful Mexican culture.

Holy Week

In the religion Christianity there is the last week of Lent, and the week before Easter. It also includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Maudy Thursday or Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. It, however, does not include Easter Sunday. There are variations of the Christian Religion, and each day has a specific meaning, with certain rules. Easter Sunday, which immediately follows Holy Week, is the great feast day and apogee of the Christian liturgical year: on this day the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated.
Easter Sunday is the first day of the new season of the Great Fifty Days, Easter-tide, there being fifty days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.

The starting point for Semana Santa’s extensive history is the death of Christ, but the celebration that we see today on the Riviera Nayarit in all of Mexico is the result of centuries of evolution.  And, on the Riviera Nayarit, it is one big party and celebration with live music going and campers spread out over the beaches and filling the RV parks and hotels along with bombs going off (something about the spirits) and fireworks. Everyone shares space and is quite friendly from my experiences. Its also a great way to practice your Spanish!
Its a fun time to dive into the Mexico culture as Mexicans come to the Riviera Nayarit from all over Mexico for their Semana Santa vacation.

Enjoy your Easter Celebration with love and joy in your hearts, and I’ll see you later on the Riviera Nayarit in beautiful Mexico.

JBAR Clinic in Guayabitos Huge Success

The Jaltemba Bay JBAR Clinic that was located in Guayabitos Mexico, right on the Riviera Nayarit this year was hosted by Del Mar Moss and his wife Susan Moss at their lovely home was this last weekend for three days, and it was a huge success! A big thanks to Del Mar and Susan Moss for hosting! There cannot be an event like this without a place large enough to support the amount of animals that come in for treatment. So, again,  a huge thanks Del Mar and Susan Moss!!
Here is a picture of Del Mar and Jackie; she really knows how to care for these little guys!

That’s A Lot of Dogs and Cats!

The Guayabitos Clinic helped 199 cats and dogs that came for treatment at the clinic, consisting of 3 dental surgeries, 10 consultations, 181 sterilizations, and 16 adoptions! Whew!! Of the animals, there were 132 dogs of which 87 were female and 45 were male, 67 cats of which 41 were females and 26 were males. Now, that’s a lot of hard work, and a lot of healthy and happier animals!!
There are so many people to thank. The leaders and the helpers alike. It is a huge group effort and one cannot work the event without the other. A really big thanks to all of the volunteers!

Special Thanks to the Doc’s

A special thanks to Lyn Chimes who founded and headed up the event, and who also had lots of help from volunteers making it happen.  If you would like a pet, or to help find homes for the street animals through adoption, contact Lin Chimes at 327-274-0976 or email: linchimes@hotmail.com, She is happy to arrange a meeting for you!

A big thank you to the two local veterinarians that participated in this event. Dr. Aldo Barba (photo below) has a local practice at Vasco de Gama #20 (located a 1/2 block up from Pina hardware). They specialize in treating cats and dogs, and their phone number is 327-274-0129. And a big kuddos to Sharon from Guayabitos who is a Guayabitos part time resident with a practice in Georgia, US.
Also, special thanks to Dr. Macolm MaCartney, who established the Mexi-Can Vet Project n 2010 as he also helps to raise the funds that pay for  much needed supplies for this event. Kuddos also goes out to Dr. Mac who brings in many other Canadian vets to help with the cause. You can visit their website at  http://www.mckvets.ca for more information on their practice along with Dr.Karin from Topo.

Another big special thanks goes out to Peace Mexico Team, which stands for Protection, Education, Animals, Culture and Environment that is a non-profit organization that works in the Bay of Banderas (the Puerto Vallarta area) as well as the Jaltemba Bay. Led my Dr. Anthony, they train volunteers that prepare the animals for the surgery as well as loving care after the surgeries. These are amazing heart centered folks that really care about helping these dogs and cats, and the communities of Mexico. You can find out more by going to their website at http://www.PeaceMexico.org

Kudos to all of the volunteers working the event, as well as folks that brought food and drinks for the worker bees!, like Robi Smallwood and her lovely friend that bought lasagna and snacks for lunch! Everyone Counts!

Guayabitos Center of Whale Watching along Pacific Coast

Rincon de Guayabitos, near the south end of Jaltemba Bay is ground central for whale watching on the Riviera Nayarit.

I was sitting up on the hill overlooking La Peñita de Jaltemba the other day, and saw a couple whales breaching the water out by the island. I decided it was time to get out on a boat and see them up close. I went out with Gil on the Chica Loca from Riviera Nayarit Adventures in Sayulita.  They launch their trimaran from the marina in La Cruz.

Puerto Vallarta Banderas Bay

Dual whale tales seen in Banderas Bay during full moon Feb 2012

A Mexico vacation is considered as the top tourist destination in Latin America and currently the tenth place in the world. Areas such as the Riviera Nayarit are teeming with historical sites, rich culture, and exciting attractions that many people, even the locals, have come to enjoy and love. Although this country is renowned for its iconic monuments and dazzling white beaches, there is one thing that you must try especially when you happen to visit this colorful nation between the months of January and March. It is called whale watching.

tour boatWhale watching has become a celebrated tourist activity especially in the Mexico Pacific where these big cetacean mammals usually show themselves off shore, proudly spouting water from the blowhole above their heads while flapping their huge tails against the sea surface. Not too many people are fortunate enough to see real live whales in person and witnessing this kind of whale action can certainly lead you breathless and in awe.

Whale watching season usually starts on November and ends at the last week of March. However, January and February are the best months for you to get a glimpse of these species (particularly humpbacks and gray whales) in Banderas Bay and Matanchen Bay. If you want to have a more memorable experience by closely interacting with these gentle giants, then you might want to try whale watching in Jaltemba Bay. In here you will find shallow waters where gray mother whales take care of their calves. You can touch and see them eye-to-eye, thus giving you an amazing experience that you will never forget.

There are daily whale watching tours and overnight excursions that are readily available for you to choose from during these months. These tourist companies will not give you a guarantee for whale sightings, but you will have better chances (usually nine out of ten tours) when you visit the Mexico Pacific at the end of January to early March.

There are some reminders that you need to watch out for as soon as you have decided to try whale watching at the sunny beaches of Mexico. There are several types of whale watching tours that is suitable to all kinds of tourists. If you are doing this with your kids, you need to choose a day tour where you would spend less time in the water and more time on the ground. If you are a whale specialist, then interacting with the whales will be more suitable for you so you might want to select the kind of tour that enables you to get near them.

Come to Guayabitos for a Mexico Vacation and enjoy a whale watching tour.

A lovely chicken dinner was served that included a beverage of your choice. The bartenders were happy to serve you! One margarita coming up!

There was also three different auction fundraisers, the Chinese Auction, the Silent Auction and a Live Auction, which made for a really fun time!
A huge kudos out to Marylin who did a super job with the silent auction! Thanks Marylin! The students from Chacala also attended and celebrated the evening with dancing and fun. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, as you can see.  Click here to check out more pics in the RivieraNayaritFun picture gallery.

There was a video clip of all of the volunteer groups, and then they were presented with beautiful plaques. Each had something to say, acknowledging themselves and all of the other people that had made their volunteer groups successful.
If you are interested in becoming a Rotary Member, the Rotary meetings are held every Wednesday at Pina Coladas at 8:00am in Guayabitos. I am very proud to be a Rotary member here in Mexico and help bring in changes that help the peoples and the community without changing their wonderful culture.
